The Novatones Harmony Chorus is set to delight audiences with an uplifting evening of music while supporting a meaningful cause at Cessnock Leagues Club on Saturday, August 8.

This special event will raise funds for Little Wings, a charity that provides free air and ground transport for seriously ill children in rural and regional areas, ensuring they can access lifesaving medical treatment.

Audiences can expect a vibrant program showcasing the Novatones’ signature blend of rich harmonies, dynamic performances, and feel-good entertainment. The all-male chorus, known for its engaging stage presence and diverse repertoire, promises a memorable night for music lovers of all ages.

“We enjoy performing together as a men’s chorus,” said Novatones secretary Paul Britton, “and if in doing so, we can back such a worthwhile charity as Little Wings, then we see that as a privilege. It is an opportunity for us city-dwellers to support the needs of sick country kids.”

The concert will also showcase local young talent, with a singing group from Cessnock High School set to open the show.

The Novatones will donate 50% of the proceeds from the concert to Little Wings, helping the charity to continue its vital services and support families during some of their most challenging times.

Little Wings has a base at Cessnock Airport, providing free air and ground transport for seriously ill children from rural and regional New South Wales to receive treatment at John Hunter Children’s Hospital. The service is powered by an incredible team of volunteers, who make up more than 90% of Little Wings’ workforce, 100% Pilots and Drivers, and is funded entirely by the community, for the community.

“We are deeply grateful to The Novatones and everyone involved in the fundraiser concert for helping raise vital funds to keep our planes flying. Every dollar helps fuel our aircraft, ease the burden on families, and provide hope and practical support during some of the most challenging times in their lives,” Little Wings spokesperson Andrew Bailey said.

“The kindness and generosity of the Cessnock community is a true beacon of hope and strength. Your support is helping Little Wings navigate the current fuel crisis and continue delivering essential transport for children who need it most.

“Since April, aviation fuel prices have increased by more than 60%, forcing Little Wings to cap missions to ensure the long-term sustainability of the service. With the support of Australians and local communities like Cessnock, we can keep our planes in the air and continue ensuring that no child misses vital medical treatment because of distance.”

Cessnock Leagues Club has been a supporter of Little Wings since it established Cessnock base in 2022, providing funding through its ClubGrants program and special event raffles.

“We’re proud to host Novatones and support their efforts to raise funds for Little Wings and the amazing work they do to help families with sick children,” Cessnock Hospitality Group community engagement manager Krystal Sellars said.

Community members are encouraged to attend the show, enjoy an evening of outstanding live music, and contribute to a cause that makes a real difference.

The show will start at 7pm. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased here: https://www.stickytickets.com.au/kwa1kb/novatones_harmony_chorus.aspx
